The MSK Group board has launched a new construction project for a cabin factory in Slovakia. The new cabin factory will be constructed in Sabinov, Slovakia, approximately 10 km from the current MSK Matec s.r.o. factory at Lipany. The Lipany factory currently operates in rental facilities, and after the investment it will move to its own larger and modernised premises at Sabinov. An investment in a cabin factory is a natural extension of MSK Group’s strategy of being the leading contractual manufacturer of protective cabins for mobile machinery in Europe. The investment will reinforce competitiveness and the production of large series oriented to European customers. It will also increase the added value by repatriating operations and increase profitability. The new factory will serve the Central European market alongside the Ylihärmä cabin factory. Scandinavian needs will continue to be satisfied from Finland. The German factory will focus on its own core competencies, small series and aluminium cabins, which are its specialities.
– Three years ago we decided to focus on international development and new customers. We have systematically followed the strategy made on the basis of this decision: in 2018, Matec was acquired, and the trend continues with an investment in a factory of our own. In Finland, the MSK Cabins factory has world-class know-how in manufacturing large series. We will now export this experience and know-how to Slovakia where we will satisfy Central European needs and continue to reinforce MSK’s foothold as a significant European cabin manufacturer, MSK Group’s CEO Timo Lehtioja explains.
The construction project will be launched in spring 2020, and the investment will be made in two stages. At the first stage, the painting shop, the storage and the assembly hall will be built. At the second stage, the welding shop facilities will be completed. Until then, the welding shop will operate in the Lipany factory facilities. The new factory will boast a total of 9,600 m2 of operating facilities. Production in the new facilities will be launched in early 2021, and the main responsibility for completing the project will lie with Lauri Isosaari.

True to its name, the Varia is a modifiable cabin with a modular construction, making it suitable for various mobile machines and industrial applications. The cabin will be available early next year, but the first sales have already been completed.
